Best genesis games of all time
This version is a decent choice: it includes both the Champion Edition and Turbo: Hyper Fighting rulesets, making it relatively comprehensive as home console versions go within the incredibly convoluted Street Fighter 2 release history. (Seriously, there have been so many versions of this game.) Special Champion Edition was the first incarnation of Street Fighter 2 to be released on a Sega system. Role-playing Blessed with a game library featuring some of the greatest titles of all time, Genesis has countless games sure to induce nostalgia and enjoyment in gamers of all ages. And now that we’ve got all the explainers & disclaimers out of the way… here’s my list of 36 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games that are still fun to play in the 2020s (if you have similar elder millennial gaming tastes as me):
"Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine" is the unlikely combination of two of Sega's hit series, "Sonic the Hedgehog," and "Puyo Puyo," a competitive puzzle series that's still widely popular in Japan. While the anime characters of "Puyo Puyo" made the puzzle game a tough sell for Western audiences, giving the game a makeover with Sonic characters helped make it more accessible. What is somewhat weird is that the game focuses on humans and then also throws in other monsters. Nonetheless, it is a lot of fun to fight and explore your way through the game. The graphics are pretty good, with a variety of different maps. The biggest problem is the difficulty level, but its fun gameplay makes it one of the best Sega Genesis survival games. Q: Is Sega Genesis 16-Bit? By 1994, Castlevania had firmly established itself as one of Konami's biggest franchises. For its Genesis arrival, Konami went back to the drawing board so that a Castlevania experience could be designed exclusively for that system, resulting in a game that's seen as one of the best in the series before Symphony of the Night came along and set a new status quo. Taking full advantage of the 16-bit Sega hardware, Bloodlines goes all in on the classic-vania approach, delivering an onslaught of enemies across a selection of varied stages. It's beautiful, the action requires you to be quicker than the crack of the whip, and the experimental approach to gameplay elevated above its predecessors.
